The Surprising Health Benefits of Lemons

When life gives you lemons, you may want to celebrate!🍋 This zesty citrus is high in vitamin C, fiber, and various beneficial plant compounds. Here are a few ways consuming lemon juice can  benefit your body:

  • Lemons are high in heart-healthy vitamin C and several beneficial plant compounds that may lower cholesterol.
  • Lemon juice may help prevent kidney stones. Just a 1/2-cup of lemon juice per day may provide enough citric acid to help prevent stone formation in people who have already had them.
  • Lemons contain vitamin C and citric acid, which help you absorb non-heme iron from plants. This may prevent anemia and even promote weight loss.
