Get To Know Your Care Team: Sharing Our Favorite Holiday Traditions

Our Jacksonville, FL based care team shares their top traditions for celebrating the holiday season

Happy Holidays from the Omega Health & Wellness team! Our stockings have been hung with care, we’ve double-checked our shopping lists and the holiday spirit is abound at our Jacksonville, Florida office.

As the busy year draws to a close, we’re looking back on the ups, downs and making plans to take a break from work and spend time with family. We ask our patients, neighbors, and friends to take a bit of extra time to appreciate the little things during this season. For us, this means connecting with one another and focusing on remaining in the present moment with family, friends, and loved ones.

In the spirit of the season, we polled our team to find out a few of their favorite holiday traditions and what they enjoy most about the holidays. Here’s what they said!

Anita, Medical Assistant

Listening to Christmas carols with family and friends. Decorating the Christmas tree with fairy lights and pretty decorations. Sharing gifts with family and good friends. Enjoying the smile on their faces. Bottom line, just doing what I do best is sharing lots of love, encouragement, and joy with everyone.

Dr. Roderick T. Beaman, DO

My fondest holiday tradition was decorating the Christmas tree. I always enjoyed placing the lights and ornaments as evenly as possible. It was a nice little challenge to get the right overall effect.

James Coker, Practice Admin

This time of year, I especially love being with family and friends in church, celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! I love the time with family, sharing memories, enjoying the Christmas music, food, and festivities.

Kieaira, Patient Service Specialist

I’ve never really had any holiday traditions growing up or even as an adult, but I can say for my tradition, I try to maintain the spirit of giving during the holidays. I have always loved giving back and helping anyone in any way I can. In 2016, I started accepting donations of non-perishable items and packing individual care packages for the homeless or less fortunate. Since I have been with my partner, we have continued the tradition every year, adding more and more to what we are able to give back to help people during the holidays due to others donating, as well. It may not be the most traditional thing to do, but it makes me happy to be able to brighten someone else’s day with such a small act of kindness.

Kim, Administrative Coordinator

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I grew up not really having any Christmas traditions or even celebrating it at all until I met my boyfriend of two years. We have shared three Christmas together so far. On our very first Christmas, we decided to do some shopping for tree ornaments, and as we were walking around, he stopped in the middle of the aisle and said: “Why don’t we both grab our own special ornaments to put on the tree.” The funny thing was, we both came back with the same ornaments. We stood there laughing for some time. I went to put mine back and ended up getting another decoration. After that Christmas, we decided to pick out our own special ornaments to add to our Christmas tree each year. It’s one of my favorite holiday traditions.
