The liver is often overlooked as part of hormonal metabolism. All steroid hormones (cortisol, estrogen, etc.) are converted and metabolized into different forms by the liver. One of the most confusing parts of hormonal health is that many hormones exist in the body in various forms.


For example, estrogens exist in the body in three different primary forms, estrone (E1), estradiol (E2), and estriol (E3).
